The Handyman is responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and general support activities at field locations. The position requires practical working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, air-conditioning (AC), plumbing, and carpentry works to ensure that field offices, camps, residential facilities, equipment, and other site facilities remain safe, functional, and properly maintained.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine electrical maintenance and minor repairs, including lights, switches, sockets, wiring, breakers, fans, and other electrical fittings.
• Perform basic mechanical maintenance and repair of field equipment, machinery, pumps, generators, and other mechanical items within the scope of assigned duties.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and carry out minor repairs and maintenance of air-conditioning units, including cleaning filters, checking drainage, identifying basic faults, and supporting servicing activities.
• Perform plumbing works, including repair and replacement of taps, valves, pipes, water connections, sanitary fittings, drainage lines, and water supply systems.
• Carry out carpentry and woodwork, including repair of doors, windows, cabinets, tables, beds, shelves, locks, and other wooden fixtures.
• Attend to general maintenance complaints and breakdowns reported by field staff and resolve them promptly where possible.
• Conduct regular inspection of field offices, camps, accommodation, kitchens, washrooms, stores, and other facilities to identify maintenance requirements.
• Assist specialized technicians or contractors during major electrical, mechanical, AC, plumbing, and civil maintenance works.
• Use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and other maintenance tools safely and properly.
• Maintain basic records of maintenance activities, repairs carried out, materials used, and outstanding maintenance requirements.
• Ensure proper care, cleanliness, and safe storage of tools and maintenance equipment.
• Follow all applicable HSE and safety procedures, particularly while performing electrical, mechanical, and other maintenance activities.
• Immediately report major faults, unsafe conditions, or maintenance requirements beyond his technical capability to the Field Officer/concerned supervisor.
• Support field operations in emergency or urgent maintenance situations, including after normal working hours when required due to the 24/7 nature of field operations.
• Perform other related maintenance and handyman duties assigned by the supervisor/management.

Required Technical Skills

The Handyman should have practical working knowledge and hands-on experience in:

1. Electrical Works – basic wiring, switches, sockets, lights, fans, breakers, and troubleshooting.
2. Mechanical Works – basic repair and maintenance of machinery, pumps, generators, and mechanical equipment.
3. Air Conditioning (AC) – basic troubleshooting, cleaning, filter maintenance, drainage, and assistance in servicing/repair.
4. Plumbing – water supply, drainage, taps, valves, pipes, sanitary fittings, and leakage repair.
5. Carpentry – repair and maintenance of doors, windows, furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other wooden fixtures.
6. General Maintenance – ability to identify faults and carry out minor repair and maintenance works using appropriate tools.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum FA / BA completed preferred.
• Technical/vocational certification or relevant trade training will be an advantage.
• Practical experience of 4 years as a Handyman, Maintenance Technician, Electrician, Plumber, AC Technician, or similar position.
• Ability to independently handle routine maintenance and minor repair works in a field environment.
• Experience working at remote/field locations, camps, offices, or industrial facilities will be preferred.
