Job Detail

·      Issuing stock items and prepared prescriptions

·      Collection of prescription charges/checking patient exemption statements

·      Ensuring that drugs are received and stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions

·      Ensuring that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintaining the temperature control record/logbook

·      Cleaning work surfaces and shelving on a regular basis and ensuring that that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and kept in good working order.

·      Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions.

·      Undertaking other reasonable duties within the framework of the post as directed by the senior dispenser.

·      Using the computer to keep records up to date.

·      Checking with GP’s or in patient records if concerned about the appropriateness of requests for medication.

·      Dealing with queries from patients regarding their health issues or prescriptions.

·      Ordering medication using from reliable sources after due diligence and approval from the designated authorities.

·      Handling controlled drugs (and keeping register).

·      Ensure safe storage, rotation and disposal of drugs within area of responsibility

·      Indents linen/dressing material required for dressing and maintains the ledgers/stock accordingly.

·      Prepare and keep the dressing trolley in order and ready for emergency.

·      Dispenses medical products to incoming patients after proper examination

·      Perform dispensary administrative duties, including documenting inventory and purchase records, prescription orders and restocking inventory

·      Gather, organize, and assess patient information

·      Council patients on their health problem and related practices for ensured health.

·      Liaises with healthcare providers for updated information

·      Maintains electronic patient information

·      Know the general principles of first aid and resuscitation to be able to undertake initial actions as appropriate.

·      Ability to take initiative and to work under pressure.

·      Ability to work with others in a team environment and provide sound advice to health issues.

·      Preceptive of all active field members to identify and rectify any health problems timely .

·      Sound knowledge of prescription medicines for various everyday ailments .
